The Web Portal – "Health and Wellness Focus"

"Health and Wellness Focus" is a very user-friendly, easily navigable electronic health information resource that is updated and expanded constantly. Much of the information is in a question and answer format, asking questions consumers/patients should be seeking answers to and then answering the questions comprehensively.

Information is divided into seven (7) key topical areas. These include the following:

  1. "Medication and Wellness Focus". This monthly newsletter addresses a broad spectrum of topics, including dietary guidance, exercise, disease prevention, medication management, disease management, first-aid, self-care, safety alerts on drugs and foods, how to avoid spending unnecessarily for healthcare, and much more.

  2. "You and Your Disease from A to Z". This section addresses over 200 of the most commonly occurring, high cost, high morbidity medical conditions. In a question and answer format, this section assists patients in better understanding a particular disease or medical condition and how to best manage the disease.

  3. "Self-Care". This section guides patients in how to wisely treat themselves with quality nonprescription (OTC) drugs. This section also provides excellent consumer guidance in the proper selection and use of vitamins, minerals and nutritional supplements. Properly applied, information in this section can lead to avoidance of unnecessary or trivial physician and/or emergency room visits.

  4. "Your Health Corner". This section is a very high impact informational resource. This section provides in-depth information on twelve (12) diseases or medical conditions associated with over 70% of all healthcare costs. Information addresses diabetes care, cardiovascular diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, depression, bone and joint disorders, allergies, sleep disorders, and tobacco and alcohol risk. Subsections of information are provided under each disease or condition.

  5. "Money Saving Tips". This section assists consumers in avoiding unnecessary healthcare spending. Information is provided regarding the prudent use of generic drugs, managing copayments, using nonprescription (OTC) drugs when appropriate and using a flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA) on high value purchases such as OTC drugs and first-aid supplies.

  6. "Health Tips". This section includes several entries that address general health information. Examples of topics addressed include various aspects relating to proper medication use, diet and exercise. This section also provides health tips that are gender specific or age specific (e.g., pediatric, geriatric).

  7. "First Aid". Accidents happen. Many injuries due to accidents can be treated at home, thus avoiding a visit to the doctor. This section provides guidance on how and when to treat certain common injuries at home.
